18 editions of the Pyxis Open Space: Coming of Age Lessons Learned
The dynamics of the Open Space that we have, are known to the Pyxis team, which has been gathering for several years to meet and co-build. In this instance last April we celebrated its 18 editions. The number drives us and ntitle us to look at this 18 editions as the coming of age of an event that was growing and maturing with Pyxis.
To think of the #PyxisOpenSpace is to think of much more than 200 people gathered at the same time, chattering and exchanging ideas. It is talking about an essential activity for our ecosystem: a space that inspired and was the seed of different ideas, tools, and processes that today are familiar for the team.
What the Open left us…
Without the Open we would not have had the conversations that led to the creation of our Gender and Diversity commission, which day by day puts the gender perspective in our ecosystem, seeking to build Pyxis for all people. Nor would we have had a team thinking about the work of the future, generating guidelines and concrete actions so that the #PyxisAnywhere is a reality regardless of whether it is face-to-face, virtual or mixed.
Thanks to the Open we have processes that take into account ideas and opportunities for improvement of the Pyxians. For example, the internal feedback process, which we call the exchange instance, a set-up and projection of the work of each member. In some of our first opens we also delineated the virtual spaces to manage knowledge, collaborate between teams, unite all information on procedures and culture. The back-office operation aimed at improving our experience in the pyxian day to day, visible in the benefits we have (health insurance, among others) or the realization of internal integration activities (impossible not to mention the BBQ or the celebrations of the birthdays of the month, which even in pandemic did not stop seeing the light).
What would Pyxis be without the Open Tech? We also owe this event to Open Space. This instance of exhibition and exchange of knowledge was born in 2014 as part of an Open where different initiatives were proposed to give greater support to the exchange of knowledge between the team.
Pyxis is Pyxis thanks to the Open Space
RSP and winter campaigns. Active pause spaces. We plug pyxis to have nicer offices. The welcome kit to receive every Pyxian who joins our team. Internal newsletters. There is so much that Pyxis owes to Open Space that it does not enter us in a single blog (we should write at least 18). What we can say is that this instance is infused in the Pyxian DNA.
Not only is it difficult to think of a pyxis without an Open Space, but it is impossible to think that our ecosystem would be this one without having been crossed by almost twenty experiences of exchange and co-building where each of the people who make up this team gave their contribution, their vision and their effort to make this a vibrant ecosystem, energetic and full of life, which with almost 13 years of life continues to prove that 1 + 1 >> 2.
