Concerned about gender equity, at Pyxis we have been promoting since last year the creation of a new workspace that aims to sensitize ourselves and others on this issue. In this way, we seek to generate quality information and promote workshops and training spaces open to everyone. In addition, we intend to rethink our processes and tools to promote equity in its different dimensions.
As a first step in this direction, in the framework of International Women’s Day, Pyxis signed the WEPs, Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) created by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact in 2010 and are the main platform of the Ganar-Ganar program.
Adherence to this program is evidence of concern about the issue and also aims to motivate other leaders to do the same. In Uruguay, more than 100 companies have already adhered to this program and are following the principles for the empowerment of women within the organizations.
Ganar-Ganar Program
The program created in 2018 seeks to promote gender equality in the private sector and is currently implemented in six countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and EU countries.
«The overall objective of the program is to contribute to the economic empowerment of women, recognizing them as beneficiaries and partners of growth and development, increasing the commitment of the private sector (companies and employers’ organizations) to gender equality and women’s empowerment.»
The program seeks to achieve three main outcomes, firstly, to increase cooperation and expand opportunities among women-led businesses. Secondly, it promotes a sustainable model of private sector engagement with gender to support the achievement of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), and finally bi-regional women’s leadership in innovation and business.
