Dronfies Labs obtains support from Galicia’s BFaero fund, marking a new milestone.
The venture was selected by BFaero, an aerospace accelerator promoted by the Xunta de Galicia and the Galician Innovation Agency for its start-up acceleration program.
Dronfies Labs, member of the Pyxis ecosystem, has developed a platform called Cielum for low-altitude airspace management and coordination of drone flight permits. This platform operates as a control tower that issues permit to access the airspace and prevents drones from colliding.
Cielum has already become the brand under which the company presents itself in Europe.
A year ago, after a successful experience in Uruguay, its directors went out to explore international markets of great potential, including Europe.
They applied to this call from Galicia, where 88 companies applied and 11 were selected, being the Uruguayan company, the only foreign company selected, which represents a significant boost for the team, which receives important recognition for the work done during this time.
It is even more representative when the starting point is the South American market because the greatest advances in this technology are produced in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Due to this selection, they decided to open an office in La Coruña, starting an 8-month acceleration stage with the main objective of consolidating their presence in the Spanish market, providing airspace access authorizations through partners, and supported with the management of permits to be leaders in the development of the global technology for UTM/U-Space.to achieve this goal they are already working with technology centers in Spain as Naitec in Navarra and UPV (Universitat Politècnica de València).
These centers are great technological references and are part of the execution of one of the largest projects in the world as -U Welcome, a European project that seeks to make the first implementations of this technology in Europe.
Collaboration with Dron Delivery companies is also in focus. «We are a startup in the aerospace sector, which implies competing and sharing ecosystem with large companies (…) Uruguayans know how to play this role and we are prepared. We will be able to show all this as a good case of success when we take advantage of the launch terminal we have prepared,» said Sebastián Macías, president of the company. Sebastián Macías, CEO of Dronfies Labs, commented as he is on his way to a new trip to Spain.
