Diego Sastre and the child that leads us to grow up
Diego Sastre was talking in a new episode of Emprendedores, a podcast of Grupo Magnolio. Together with Marcelo Da Costa Porto, they talked about the importance of entrepreneurship in the development and growth of companies.
In the talk they emphasized the step between entrepreneurship and business. In the twelve-minute interview, Diego Sastre navigates mainly between two concepts: fear and control.
We tend to see fear as something negative and forget its potential. As Diego explains, while fear is insecurity and fear, it is also impulse, opportunity and risk. It puts us on alert and encourages us to jump into the sea. »Fear is great, because it focuses you, it motivates you» says Diego, highlighting the opportunity for growth in every feeling of fear or insecurity.
On the other hand, control as such does not exist. As Diego points out, there is a sense of control that we must let go of in order to grow. He adds that what we must do is to influence and let it flow, to make each part of the system find its own place. Integrating the antagonistic, complementing different parts of the same system, seeing the organization as an ecosystem,» he explains.
Both concepts converge in one: insecurity. But they are also resolved in another: delegating. «Letting go is a task of ego deconstruction. When we delegate, we assume that we don’t control everything, but also that we are not responsible for everything. According to Diego, adapting or not is a matter of illusion, it does not exist. Therefore, worrying about it would be unnecessary. The question is to let it flow and change our mind’s perception of change.
The inner child
In a company like Pyxis, creativity is fundamental and incorporating it into work processes helps to leave fear behind and relinquish control. When you let go and get rid of fear, live and let go, you are creative,» says Sastre. He talks about fear, about control as a terrified child that lives locked inside us, in a cage built by ourselves. We constantly lock up and manipulate that child, we don’t let it be, we lock up the creative and imaginative impulses that we constantly receive from that part of us. But when we release it, let it be, we begin to see the world differently. »Our purpose should be to release the cages,» says Diego.
This locked-up child not only affects our view of fear and control, it also affects how we think about success. We tend to see success as something foreign, distant, that we must seek outside of ourselves. We constantly strive to achieve a goal, but in reality true success lies within us. Locking the child in the cage does not let us see the real success, the one that is within us and lives in our creativity, in the purest part of us; the one we recognize when we let go of fear and give up control. Let’s be selfish and discover our own success, the one that comes from the factory» closes Diego.
