Sistema B is a regional platform that was introduced on Pyxis’ path towards sustainability. Its characteristics, and the objectives it pursues, form a project that Pyxis never hesitated to participate in. The B Corporations certification pursues a new economy in which financial success and profits incorporate social and environmental well-being.
These movements «encourage new actors to lead the climb towards triple impact with purpose and responsibility,» says Analía Semblat, head of Sustainability Management at Pyxis. The objective is to integrate a committed group of companies and individuals to promote triple impact projects: economically viable, committed to social and environmental well-being.
For Pyxis, being part of such a non-profit project means being in contact with the experiences of companies that are concerned about solving current environmental problems. Organizations that seek a new economy and integrate «success and financial benefits with social and environmental well-being in their practices,» she said.
«We always knew it was an initiative we were going to join», says Analía Semblat, responsible for Sustainability Management, since «the local and regional factor» made it easier to integrate the project.
What has been done
A Pyxis team was trained at the Multipliers Workshop. The workshop «brings closer the spirit of what it is to be a B company». Analía explains that they discovered the tool «Measure what matters» to measure the impact generated by the company and evaluate what actions to take based on this diagnosis».
The diagnosis is obtained through a questionnaire of approximately 150 questions, which has several sections. The first step to becoming a certified B company is to run this scan and measure the impact based on System B standards.
«By answering these questions we are going to know where we stand, what impact we generate and, based on this analysis, we will be able to establish lines of action to incorporate or enhance,» explains Analía.
Becoming part of it
Together with Diego Sastre, co-founder of Pyxis, Analía participated in many meetings where experiences were shared. In addition, they were trained and joined a team of the company that will have the challenge of laying the foundations of Pyxis Sostenible. The objective is that ‘the board of directors can define the company’s strategy and role in Sistema B», says Analía.
Currently, programs such as the +50 Program, Pyxis, Fibers, training schools, Zero Garbage are being implemented. Actions that give us signs that «we are part of and share a vision with this type of projects».
Being able to measure and report on these actions «will help to maintain or improve them», they are a «permanent process» that aims to «activate a new economy, inspiring and sharing what we do».
