We participated in the XXIII Latin American Agility Conference
From November 8th to 14th we were present at the XXIII atin American Agility Conference. This year it transcended geographical barriers and became 100% virtual. There were more than 250 talks, technical sessions and workshops. In addition, there were more than 200 speakers and 2000 attendees linked to agility from different Latin American countries.
Participants were able to share experiences and knowledge about the impact of agility on product and service development, organizational transformation and team building in order to adapt to a constantly changing market.
We talked to Rafael López, developer at Pyxis, who participated in the event to learn about his experience. He attended talks on test automation, hexagonal architecture, among other topics.
«In general terms the event was very good, many interesting talks, both technical aspects, as well as topics related to soft skills and application of agile itself, I also noticed a lot of adoption of inclusion and inclusive language,» he values.
Rafael highlighted, for example, Alistair talking about Hexagonal Architecture. «I found it super valuable to be able to get this information from the creator of the idea itself. I also highlighted being able to chat a bit about agility with Jeff Sutherland, one of the creators of Scrum».
Agile at home
We asked Rafael what the concept of agility means to him and how he applies it to his work at Pyxis.
«For me agile is a way of thinking, feeling and living. It has a lot to do with finding a stable way of working, where most of us involved are happy, where the client is happy receiving value, where the teams are happy working at a constant pace of growth and continuous improvement, and where the processes can advance in some way or another and be re-evaluated to improve over time,» he says.
Moreover, he considers Pyxis an organization that defends those principles and that brings together many positive elements of the different implementations of agile. «I align myself very much to the way we want to implement agile at Pyxis, trying to bring together the best of many agile practices, that’s great, and also being true to my style, whenever I come up with an opportunity for improvement, I try to share it with the team and it is always well received.»
