Every year our Pyxian Social Responsibility team organizes a day of solidarity with the aim of sharing some time together and collaborating with a person or organization in need. The format is usually a hamburger, with food and drinks for sale and where we also include activities for the little ones.
This year, to #TakeCareOfEachother, we changed the format of the Pyxis Happy Day. We generated an online auction where each volunteer could offer a product or service. The initiative was a success: around 150 products and services were auctioned in various categories: services, food, electronics, personal and household items. More than 500 bids were received. We were able to increase the base value of all donations by 20%.
¡We thank everyone who participated!

Who we help
Approximately one month before, we make an open call to the entire team to present potential beneficiaries. Then we vote to choose the final recipient of the proceeds. After the event, we collect all the money raised and contact the person or organization that will receive the collaboration.
In this 2020 the proposal that obtained 70% of the votes involved supporting the nephews of a colleague who were diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and live in Las Piedras. There they have not been able to get the appropriate treatments so they needed support to be able to carry them out in Montevideo. In addition, ideally, they should be kept until they are 6 years old.
The solidarity auction
We issued a team-wide call for bids and exceeded 150 products and services auctioned. The platform consisted of a website where bids could be placed and was operational from November 16th to 23rd. More than 500 bids were received for the donated items. The auction raised the base value of all donations by 20%.
To facilitate the participation of the entire team, payment for the auction could be made by direct deduction from the next paycheck or bank transfer to the RSP account. We also sought to discourage the use of cash to minimize any risk. We then contacted each winner and bidder to coordinate delivery of the product/service.
We are very happy for all the support received and the great response of all the team and friendly companies to our Pyxis Happy Day. We are currently evaluating the different options available in order to choose the best treatment for the children in 2021.
We were able to do it thanks to everyone’s participation. We continue to spread our culture abroad and that fills us with pride.
