On Thursday, November 21, the closing ceremony of the Data Science Workshop, co-organized by SAP Next Gen, the University of Montevideo (UM), Pyxis and Idatha, was held.

The workshop, which took place between October and November and was mentored by Idatha’s team, was oriented to more than 20 students from multidisciplinary careers of the University of Montevideo, Universidad de Montevideo, Universidad de la Empresa, Udelar and ORT.

Closing Ceremony

The event began with a presentation by Idilia Seixas, Regional Community Manager SAP Next-Gen Latin America, Caribbean & Miami of SAP, who expressed the reasons that inspire SAP to promote activities with the educational community, always with innovation as a north.

Then it was the turn of the teams that presented their work on: Sanitary inspections and cleanliness in NY restaurants, Analysis of the incidence of traffic radars in fatal accidents in Uruguay and Study of the incidence of CO2 emissions on life expectancy.

In total, 3 groups showed their conclusions from the analysis of different topics, using open databases and applying Data Science and Machine Learning techniques. All were qualified by a jury composed of members of the institutions that co-organized the Workshop.

The winning team

The group chosen as the winner, composed of Agustín, Agustina, Alexis and Federico, who analyzed the impact of CO2 emissions on life expectancy, will have the opportunity to access a 6-month internship at Idatha, and work hand in hand with experts in Data Science.

The event also counted with the participation of Martín Sarthou, Sports Manager of Club Nacional de Fútbol, who talked about the Club’s experience in the use of data generated from Artificial Intelligence.

Both the Workshop and the Closing Ceremony allowed us to be closer to the educational community and bring Data Science closer to students to complement their learning and encourage the formation of new talents.
