Initial Situation:
The project involves the maintenance of products and their marketing and multimedia information. It is an evolutionary project, where every month there are releases of new functionalities.
In this case there is a need to migrate a traditional infrastructure provider to Microsoft Azure. The main problem we solved was to increase the storage capacity of images and videos, since the current provider was reaching its capacity limit and threatened to cause disruptions in the productive environment.
Solution proposed:
We sought to solve the storage problem once and for all. Within the range of Azure solutions, we identified in Azure Blob Storage, the best solution that allows you to store an unlimited amount of files, so that the customer can continue its operations without problems and even increase the use according to the increased demand by its users with respect to multimedia content (higher resolution images, 4K videos, etc.).
The solution proposed by Azure Blob Storage means that the customer can use SAP Customer Experience on the new SAP Cloud Platform, announced at the last Sapphire, the main event of dissemination of SAP and partners who collaborate with the brand.
The previous infrastructure was shutdown and the migration to Microsoft Azure was completed. Not only the production environment but also the Development and Quality Assurance environment. At this moment the client has 100% of SAP Customer Experience running on Azure.
Another improvement that the platform has had, and that we suggested to the client, is the reduction of the time to production. Normally it is every month, and takes about 6 hours. By being in the Azure cloud we were able to improve the times, reducing the total time by 90 minutes without having to perform major development tasks. In this way we were able to eliminate the slow database backup process. We are currently investigating strategies to further reduce this time and improve system availability.
